There’s no denying that the burger game is strong here in Newcastle with the likes of Rascal and Newy Burger Co (t name but a few) serving up quality burgs on the regular.
Well, that game is set to get even stronger with the arrival of Bondi-born burger bar Milky Lane, which will open its doors on Darby Street next month.
Anticipation sure is high with this one.
Announcing the opening night of July 24 on Facebook own Wednesday night, sent Novocastrian burger hounds into overdrive, with a whopping 2,200 of them registering their interest in attending opening night.
“You’ve spent the last year or two drooling over our pics and videos, sharing them with your friends and waiting eagerly for Milky Lane to land in Newcastle,” they said on the event post.
“Well, the wait is over our beautiful friends so get the fat pants out cause we’re coming in ruthless.”
If you are keen, you need to hit ‘Going’ on the event page which will get you first access to the bookings link and a chance to win an all expenses paid booth on opening night for yourself and ‘a few mates.’
Milky Lane started life in Bondi before spreading their wings to Crows Nest, Coogee, Parramatta, Kings Cross, Cronulla and Surfer’s Paradise.
Aside from their massive range of MASSIVE burgers, Milky Lane is also known for the impressive custom street art pieces that line the walls.
And these murals will also be a feature of the Newcastle site as well as some “never before seen features.”
From the Milky Lane burger (Wagyu Beef Pattie, Double American Cheese, Butter Lettuce, Pickles, Diced Onions, Sliced Tomato, ML Sauce, ML Ketchup) to the Limp Brisket ( 2hr Texas Rubbed Smoked Beef Brisket Braised in ML BBQ Sauce, American Cheese, Carolina Slaw, Sauerkraut, Pickles, Onion Rings, ML Sauce, American Mustard) these burgers look next level.
The freakishness doesn’t stop with the burgers either, with Milky Lane offering up a range of gargantuan-looking milkshakes and an eclectic cocktail list that includes the likes of a Bubblegum Sour and a Reece’s Peanut Butter Martini.
Milky Lane is located at 13-15 Darby Street, Newcastle and will open its doors on Wednesday 24 July.
