Newcastle Comedy Club is set to get a dose of internet-age humour when Harry Jun brings his stand-up show Inside Jokes, Outside Voice to Islington.

Built around the idea of “in-jokes” and the social groups who get them, the show takes aim at the strange corners of modern life, from social media algorithms gone rogue to the joys of bed rotting.

Jun’s comedy is aimed squarely at people with active internet connections, people with or without jobs, and anyone who has ever felt personally betrayed by their Instagram or TikTok feed.

There’s also plenty for travellers, mid-30s runners and Koreans north and south of the border, with the show promising an eclectic mix of observations that should resonate with anyone who finds themselves in one of these oddly specific categories.

And if none of those descriptions sound like you, that’s apparently no excuse to stay home. The invitation is open to everyone, with the promise that stepping outside your usual social group and into the comedy room might even help you “grow as a person”.

Inside Jokes, Outside Voice by Harry Jun is on at Newcastle Comedy Club in Islington on Saturday, 12 September, from 6pm to 7pm. Tickets are available through Humanitix, with the show offering an hour of internet-fuelled laughs for anyone keen to get in on the joke.
