Flying high this Thursday at The Cambridge

Fans of the band, The Paper Kites are in for a real treat this Thursday (May 29) when the band take to the stage at The Cambridge Hotel.

The indie folk band from Melbourne formed in 2009 initially found their success online, through listeners spreading their songs and music videos. In October 2013 they made their first trip to America, opening for Canadian band City and Colour on a 13-date tour across the country.

In a recent interview with Newcastle Live, lead singer Sam Bentley said;

“The City and Colour tour was amazing, and some of the venues we played were just beautiful, where people like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash have played”

While the band initially found success online Sam says;

“You can’t just be a Youtube sensation. You have to make [your music] translate live as well, and be able to stand on your own two feet as a band.”

This Thursday (May 29) will give local audiences a chance to see if the band can actually stand on their own feet, when The Paper Kites play the Cambridge Hotel.
