The crew behind one of Newcastle’s most celebrated restaurants, The Flotilla, have announced the opening of a new chic wine bar called Vecina.
Vecina, Spanish for neighbour, will share an adjoining wall with Flotilla and shared ownership.
Described as a friendly local and a welcoming neighbourhood bar, Vecina is set to become one of the must-visit locations in Newcastle this Summer.
The bar will boast Newcastle’s largest by-the-glass list, complemented by a menu of bar snacks curated by Chef Jake Deluca and his team.
It’s been an incredible twelve months for Jake. He was again awarded a Sydney Morning Herald Chef’s Hat, he took out the region’s heavily contested Food Fight, and The Flotilla has been shortlisted for Best Regional Restaurant in NSW for the 2024 Good Food Guide.
Basically what we’re saying is that this won’t be your average bar snacks menu.
Hungry wine sippers will be able to enjoy culinary delights such as guildas, chicharrónes, appellation oysters, gnocco fritto & mortadella, steak tartare and fish rillettes. Oh, and there’ll be cocktails too!
Vecina is set to officially open its doors, in Albert Street, Wickham, on Wednesday, 6 December.
