Festival X offers a virtual window into the creative minds of students

The formidable talents of students from the University Of Newcastle’s School of Creative Industries will be on full display next month thanks to a three-day virtual celebration.

Running from Friday 5 November to Sunday 7 NovemberFestival X provides an opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in the aforementioned talents as students exhibit their final works and make their mark on 2021.

The three-day celebration will be a combination of student works from music, design, visual communication, illustration, film and theatre.

You will have the opportunity to view film screenings, music performances, animation and much more and it’s also a great opportunity for anyone thinking about a degree in the creative industries to find out what the University of Newcastle has to offer.

Like 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s Festival X will run as an entirely virtual event so you can marvel at the depth of talent from the comfort of your own home.

The festivities will kick off with a bang on Friday 5 November withUONight-In: Unrestricted – an opening night extravaganza that is sure to set the tone of the weekend with special guests, brain-teasing trivia and a whole lot more.

One of the highlights of opening night and indeed the entire festival is the virtual gallery that will showcase graduating students’ final major projects.

“Festival X is a chance for the community, business, and industry to support and engage with the creative industries in our community and to really appreciate the brilliant creativity and talent that has been fostered through our programs in the School of Creative Industries,” School of Creative Industries senior lecturer and Festival X director Dr Andrew Howells said

“We’re incredibly proud of our talented students and above all, this is a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase years of dedication to their craft to their family, friends and the wider community.”

While Festival X is free of charge, registration is essential. Also, the first 200 registrations will receive a Festival X party pack filled with stickers, party poppers, balloons and more!
