Festival of Sweets & Treats is set to return to Newcastle this October, promising a day packed with decadent desserts, international flavours and family-friendly entertainment at The Station.

The annual event is expected to attract more than 5,000 dessert lovers from across the region who will be enjoying the wares of some of the event’s most popular vendors alongside a lineup of new dessert specialists.

Returning favourites include Floss Bomb with its freshly spun fairy floss, Pretty Sweet Bakes offering everything from cupcakes and brownies to cakes in a can to loaded cookies.

New additions, The Marshmallow Co. will be serving handcrafted marshmallows, s’mores and hot chocolates, Hazely Dipped’s signature cinnamon scroll and tiramisu creations will be a sure-fire hit, and Cookie Pie will be slinging stuffed brownies and indulgent cookie pies.

A wide range of international desserts will also be on offer, from Portuguese pastries and Greek loukoumades to Dutch mini pancakes, Hong Kong-style egg waffles, tanghulu fruit sticks, bubble waffles and Asian-inspired shaved ice.

Those looking for something savoury won’t miss out either, with vendors serving Korean fried chicken, Turkish gozleme, Greek cuisine, dumplings, bao buns, pizza, burgers, loaded fries and more throughout the day.

Free face painting, jumping castles, carnival rides and games will keep the young ones entertained, and the festival will also play host to a lineup of live entertainment alongside hands-on cooking demonstrations and workshops hosted by Patrik from Sweet Tooth Marshmallows, and fondant cupcake decorating sessions presented by Lesley from For Heaven’s Cake.

Festival of Sweets & Treats will run from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, 11 October at The Station Newcastle. Tickets are $5 online for adults and $10 on the day. Kids enter free. Visit oztix.com.au to purchase.
