Last week we revealed the top 5 finalists for our Expose Newcastle photo competition in partnership with Camera House, and now it’s time to crown the winner.
When we launched the competition, back in September, we could have never imagined the sheer number of amazing photos we’d see that truly captured the essence of Newcastle.
Choosing a winner from the hundreds of photos that were submitted was a hard job, but the Camera Houser and Newcastle Live went back and forth and finally chose an image uploaded by Daniel Johnson Imaging as the winner.

The image caught the judge’s eye because it captured a quintessentially Newcastle scene. Daniel’s lens didn’t just see a moment; it witnessed a story. A story that echoes the pulse of our unique city.
“The coal ship and surfer are very iconically Newcastle, and the skill and timing to capture the three elements displayed in this photo is to be commended,” the Camera House team said.
For his amazing image, Daniel wins a brand new digital SLR camera from Camera House and the bragging rights for taking out our inaugural Expose Newcastle photo competition.
