Local artists looking to break into international markets will soon have the opportunity to access vital funding through Music Australia’s Export Development Fund.
The program, a collaboration between the Australian Government and the music industry, aims to support Australian artists as they build global careers by offering matched financial support. And the next round of funding opens later this week.
Last year, over $1 million was allocated across 79 projects, giving a major boost to artists at different stages of their careers.
One recipient, Perth-based Afropop artist Adrian Dzvuke, is using his allocated funds to embark on a UK tour, supporting Canadian artist MAUVEY.
The fund is open to a wide range of musicians, including solo artists, bands, DJs, composers, and producers, whether they are emerging, breakthrough, or established acts.
Category 1 of the program, known as the International Performance and Touring fund, specifically targets touring and showcase activities. Musicians can apply for matched funding grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, which could support them in planning international performances between April and June of 2025.
Applications for this latest round open on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and close on December 3, 2024. To find out more visit creative.gov.au.
