The Art House
From the producers/directors of last year’s smash hit The Woman in Black comes Stepping Out.
Seven women and a lone man leave their troubles at the door and escape into a brave new world – of tap dancing. Personalities clash, misunderstandings arise, tempers flare… through it all, with hilarious laughter, a bond develops between the eight wannabe tappers, their teacher – former professional dancer Mavis – and cranky old Mrs Fraser, the pianist.
Gradually, each person builds their self-confidence and, as the play progresses, the class’ dancing improves to such an extent that by the climax (a grand charity show performance), they have been transformed into triumphant tappers, worthy of any chorus line.
Stepping Out is “the tap-dancing comedy with two left feet” directed by Shea Wicks.
