THE WELCOME CHOIR:

AN OPEN, SAFE, FRIENDLY, ALL GENDERS, ALL AGES SINGING GROUP OF ALL SINGING ABILITIES

DING! DANG! DONG! WELCOME CHOIR IS ON!

Think Karaoke in a bar singing shoulder to shoulder with friends new and old.

The Welcome Choir is an open, safe, friendly, all genders, all ages singing group of all singing abilities.

Coming to The Welcome Choir is a great way to make new friends, express yourself authentically and step out of your comfort zone.

We are focussed on having a joyful and uplifting experience singing pop songs from many decades of great music together in beautiful harmony.

The Welcome Choir is a drop in choir with no auditions and no need to read music as it is taught by ear. Each gathering will be a brand-new song.

At the start of each session, we will be led through a fun vocal warm up helping us to control our voices by the talented and experienced choir master, Bek Jensen.

Welcome Choir began in 2016 as a Not-for-Profit organisation in the heart of Newtown, Sydney at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Starting with 20 participants that met once a week, this number grew quickly and within a year, moved to a bigger venue hosting 300 people and providing food and alcoholic beverages and welcomed all ages. In 2019, joining the team at the Casula Powerhouse Museum with monthly choir running 2 choirs a month.

Now in 2023 just off the back of its Sydney Fringe Festival season, Bek has taken up the reigns @ home on the Coast to continue the enormous legacy as a social enterprise with a monthly residency the last Thursday of the month at the Funhaus Factory.

Fresh, authentic mexico city street food from our social enterprise kitchen, grab a bevy and hit those vocal points with a gaggle of peeps!

This is an all ages event (Under 18s to be accompanied by an adult)
