Poetry at the Pubs meets every 3rd and 5th Monday of the month with an open set and feature poets. In May the feature poet is a trio of PhD candidates from Newcastle University.
JUAN RUBÉN REYES is an artist and poet with an interest in experimental fiction and poetry. He is currently undertaking doctoral studies at the University of Newcastle. His primary interest is the gaps inherent in the translation of what is directly perceived, into writing.
CHRIS BROWN is a poet and teacher. His poems have appeared in Southerly, Overland, The Age, Cordite and Otoliths, among other publications. He is a PhD student at Newcastle University and editor of Puncher & Wattmann’s Slow Loris Chapbook Series.
CLAIRE ALBRECHT is writing her PhD in poetry at the University of Newcastle. Her current work investigates anxiety and the connections between poetry/photography and sex/politics, and her debut chapbook ‘pinky swear’ launched in 2018. She also runs Cuplet Poetry Night in Hamilton each month.
All are welcome. Gold coin donation requested. Membership to Poetry at the Pub is very exclusive… you have to pay us $5. After that you’re in and you can even submit a poem to our annual anthology.
