Free Lunchtime Concerts in City Hall

Come along to the beautiful Concert Hall and enjoy a free lunch time concert from our local artists. Enjoy a different concert each week including Jazz, Classical, Piano, Mezzo-Soprano, Flute, Violin & more.

Concert line-up

2 October Frenchman Street Jazz Band
Frenchman Street Jazz Band plays the street music of New Orleans. Traditional jazz as played in the early days in New Orleans in the dance halls, churches, funerals, Mardi Gras parades, bars, brothels, etc. Currently you can see this band play regularly in New Orleans at French Quarter Festival under the name of Jack McLaughlin’s Oz Jazz Band.

9 October Newcastle Conservatorium Students
Young students as well as advanced musicians will play a variety of composers including Chopin, Rachmaninov, Mozart, Brahms and some of the 20th C composers also.

16 October Kathryn Dries (Mezzo-Sporano) & Michael Power (Piano)
This recital is a selection of works for voice and piano and as the mezzo-soprano Kathryn Dries is also a pianist, she will join Michael Power at the new Steinway for an entertaining piano duet!

23 October Newcastle Grammar School Senior Students
Senior students who have just begun the HSC Music and Extension course will wow you with selections of their works by Saint-Saens, Beethoven, Vivaldi and John Carmichael.

All concerts will be performed from 12.30pm -1.15pm in the Concert Hall, Newcastle City Hall, 290 King St Newcastle.
