Elixir feat. Katie Noonan with Michael Leunig

Civic Theatre Newcastle
375 Hunter St, Newcastle, NSW, 2300

Sublime music and the iconic poetry of Leunig.

Multi-Platinum selling and ARIA award-winning singer/songwriter Katie Noonan returns to the Civic Theatre with her jazz trio Elixir to perform with Australia’s ‘poet laureate’ Michael Leunig for a magical event. The concert will feature the new ‘Gratitude and Grief’ collaboration showcasing a unique combination of spoken-word poetry, angelic vocals, sublime improvisation and live drawing by Leunig himself.

Along with some of Elixir’s previous catalogue and a few of their favourite songs by other artists, this promises to be a truly special evening.

Katie Noonan’s technical mastery and pure voice makes her one of Australia’s most versatile and beloved vocalists. She first received widespread praise as the angel-voiced songstress of indie-pop band George and has since taken audiences on sublime excursions through jazz, pop and classical music.

Folk jazz trio Elixir have been performing together for 19 years to great acclaim. Their exploration of unusual collaborative environments such as text, sound and art make this concert truly one of a kind.

Running time: 2hrs inc interval
