Benefit for the Brecards
20 Broadmeadow Rd, Broadmeadow, NSW, 2292
On the 29th May, Jerome Brecard, at the age of just 33, received the devastating diagnosis of Stage IV Bowel Cancer which has spread to his liver. Due to the advanced nature of his condition, he will begin an intensive regime of chemotherapy this week to try and reduce the tumours and allow him more time to spend with his family.
Jerome has a wife, Johanna, and two young boys, Remy (3) and Maddox (10 months). He is currently a teacher at Branxton Primary School, has been an Oztag referee for 18 years and is a much loved member of the Newcastle OzTag community.
Anyone who has met Jerome, even for a short period, knows what an amazing person he is, never failing to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Jo has co-owned Boost Juice at Green Hills for the past 18 months. However, she has only been working on a part time basis for the past year, in order to look after their two sons.
Unfortunately, with Jerome undergoing such intense treatment, he will be unable to work, and Johanna will be requiring extra time off as full time carer.
To alleviate the financial burden on this young family, we are holding a fundraiser benefit night at the Sunnyside Tavern, organised by Newcastle Oztag and music provided by Paperboy.
There will be a $30 cover charge which will automatically put you in the running for one of our major prizes. There will be raffles and games with some great prize to be won also.
Draught beer and house wine will be provided under the “karma keg” system. This will be an honour system with a $5 minimum per drink. All proceeds are going toward the benefit. Donated by Sunnyside Tavern
There will also be canapes nibbles donated and supplied by The Sunnyside Tavern.
For anyone who cannot make it or if you are feeling extra generous, there is also an online fundraiser you can contribute to directly. Link in the comments below.
To create as much awareness on the night there will be a banner for photos and any social posts are encouraged and please utilise #benefitforthebrecards
