Backyard Beekeeping Workshop – Mayfield
Join us, Kelly and Anna, from Urban Hum to discover the amazing world of bees. This one-day beekeeping course will get you started on your journey to becoming a beekeeper. The course will take place in the grounds of St Andrew’s church in Mayfield East at Urban Hum’s Church Street Apiary.
Learn about bees and bee behaviour. Find out what type of hive suits you. Perfect if you already have a Flow Hive or if you are still choosing what will fit your needs. Learn the basic skills needed to care for your colony and the tools you will need. Look inside a working beehive. Experience honey extraction and taste honey from different hives.
The course will consist of a morning theoretical session with time for questions and answers. In the afternoon we will experience hands-on activities including wiring and waxing frames, honey extraction and suiting up to look inside a hive.
The course fee includes morning tea, a light lunch and the equipment you will need for the day.
Bookings and covered shoes essential.
