Arsenic and Old Lace at Maitland Repertory Theatre
Coming up in October at Maitland Rep is “Arsenic and Old Lace” – a comedy spoof on plays involving murder, made famous by the Frank Capra movie of the same name starring Cary Grant.
Mortimer Brewster lives a happy life. He’s just become engaged, and decides to visit his sweet spinster aunts to announce the engagement. Mortimer’s world is turned upside down when he realises that his dear aunts have been putting lonely old men “out of their misery” for years!
When Mortimer’s maniacal brother, Jonathan, returns that same night, Mortimer must rally to help his aunts and protect his fiancé – all while trying to keep his own sanity as well.
