Head to The Levee and prepare to enter an altered world where darkened shopfronts are transformed into vibrant and curious performance spaces. The night sky will be illuminated by light displays and the soul will be warmed with some heart food on offer. Don’t expect the expected


As the sun goes down, follow the sea of red to the rumbling sound and pulsating light as The Levee transforms into the beating heart of Maitland.

Here you will enter an altered world where darkened shopfronts are transformed into vibrant and curious performance spaces. See feats that defy gravity, alter reality and bend the mind. It’s going to be a red hot midwinter’s night you won’t quickly forget…

Prepare to be amazed by art installations, roving street acts, fire, music and more.

Don’t expect the expected. You never know what you might find as you untangle the intriguing and suss out the strange.

Warm the heart and stir the soul, by tucking into some hearty food from one of the food trucks and gourmet stalls. Grab a spot by the fire and settle in, as stunning light displays illuminate the night sky.

After Dark is a fully licensed event, with everything from mulled wine and craft beer to the finest Hunter Valley wine on offer.

After Dark: A Midwinter’s Night is a free, all-ages event by Maitland City Council.
