The Edwards are pumping some of “The Good Oil” in the Newcastle music scene. With the announcement of a new Thursday night will be taking place – curated by The Edwards Shop.
Thursday nights are for dipping your toe into the weekend, without getting too carried away, and The Edwards are dedicating it to this cities music loves. Which means national bands about to break it big, amazing local artists killing it at the moment, celebrations of the classic, special guests, and much more.
The shows are being hand-selected and curated by The Edwards Shop – a record store and culture shop connected to The Edwards run by Australian music industry veteran Chris Dunny. ‘Dunny’ has been a vital part of this nation’s music scene for over 20 years – co-running the infamous Waterfront Records out of Sydney. Now based in Newcastle, he knows your new favourite record before you have even listened to it.
The first edition of The Good Oil will feature Yon Yonson. The Sydney trio has been writing recording and self-releasing music from their bedroom since 2010. They been featured on Fuse TV’s Top 10 Australian Artists to watch in 2014, and have been selected as FBi Radio and Time Out Magazines Artist of the Month.
