When it comes to popular topics of conversation, death is never one that features high on the list.
Well, that’s all set to change next month when Newcastle Memorial Park in Beresfield will throw open its doors and give guided tours of its facility including the crematorium.
The insightful tour will answer many of the questions you were too afraid to ask about caring for the dearly departed.
“Our tours will take visitors behind the curtain to see into the world of the cemetery and crematorium, which is an important part of celebrating the lives of the ones we love,” Garry Bellenger, Family Services Manager at Newcastle Memorial Park said.
“On the day, our team and guest speakers will explain the cremation process and provide insights into how we care for the people entrusted to us and create a last connection to them as we farewell them.”
The event, held in conjunction with sister facility lake Macquarie Memorial Park is held on Dying To Know Day – an initiative, started in 2013, to help normalise conversations about death.
The event will include light refreshments and offers the perfect opportunity to talk openly about death and learn about the different possibilities that can be arranged with your local memorial park.
Newcastle Memorial Park will open its doors from 9.30am on Thursday 8 August.
