Doughheads goes OLD SCHOOL with a trio of Aussie bakery classics!

Newcastle purveyors of circular confection Doughheads has turned to the humble Aussie bakery for its latest collection of special guest stars.

Never afraid to create doughnut alchemy with all manner of weird and wonderful combos, this time around the boffins at the Junction-based eatery are looking to some of the most tried and true and best-loved flavour profiles ever conceived in Oz.

And behold, the latest trio of fortnightly special doughies – Vanilla Slice, Low Gluten Choc Caramel Slice, and a Vegan Finger Bun

The humble vanilla slice (or snot block as it is affectionately known) has long been a staple of Aussie bakeries and the Doughheads version looks to be an absolute treat.

A gorgeously fluffy doughnut is filled to the brim with vanilla bean custard, buttercream and puff pastry before being dipped in fresh passionfruit icing.

The Low Gluten Choc Caramel Slice, meanwhile looks set to evoke those childhood sense memories with a doughnut smothered in dulce de leche, dipped in milk chocolate and topped with a low gluten biscuit crumble.

And last but not least, the Vegan Finger Bun repurposes the classic Oz bakery staple into a doughnut wrth writing home about.

Think a heavenly circle smothered in coconut with a vanilla buttercream swirl and raspberries, and, of course, strawberry icing.
