The Hunter Disability Expo is returning to Newcastle this May, bringing two days of services, support and inclusive community connection to the city.
Held at Newcastle Entertainment Centre, the 2026 event will transform the venue into a fully accessible hub linking thousands of people with disability, families and carers with hundreds of providers from across the region.
From assistive technology and health services to housing and employment pathways, the expo is designed as a one-stop destination for those exploring greater independence and choice.
Local surfer, content creator and advocate James ‘Chappo’ Chapman will appear as the 2026 ambassador, bringing his message of embracing difference to the stage.
Known for challenging expectations and celebrating individuality, he will appear live on Friday to connect with attendees and share his story.
A key focus of the event is empowering attendees to shape their own future, with face-to-face opportunities to connect with organisations offering practical support and tailored solutions.
Whether navigating NDIS options or seeking new community connections, visitors can engage directly with experts and discover services suited to their individual needs.
Beyond the expo floor, a packed program of presentations and workshops will feature industry leaders, advocates and changemakers sharing insights and lived experience.
Interactive sessions and live stage talks aim to inform, inspire and encourage meaningful conversations around inclusion, accessibility and opportunity.
The event also creates a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for all ages, with inclusive entertainment, live performances and activities running across both days.
Accessibility remains front of mind, with features including live captioning, Auslan interpreters, a designated Quiet Hour, assistance animal facilities and accessible amenities throughout the venue.
The Hunter Disability Expo takes place on Friday, 8 and Saturday, 9 May 2026 from 9am to 3pm at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. Entry is free, with attendees encouraged to register in advance to access event guides, schedules and exhibitor information.
