Watch the demolition of the Zaara Street Power Station

It’s hard to believe that a Power Station, which was originally constructed to supply power to New South Wales Government Railways, could be built in such an iconic spot.

But the Zaara Street Power Station, which operated from 1915 until 1971, had one of the best views in Newcastle.

The power station was eventually demolished in 1978 and you can watch footage of the demolition, uploaded by the Newcastle & The Hunter Valley, Now And Then On Film Youtube Channel, below.
