Dawn French has added a matinée show to her run of dates in Newcastle.
The Queen of British comedy will now hit the stage at the Civic Theatre on Friday 19 April, perform a matinée on Saturday 20 April and return for another show on Saturday 4 May.
Tickets for the new show are on sale now.
The show is part of Dawn’s national tour, Dawn French is a Huge Twat.
“This show is so named because unfortunately, it’s horribly accurate. There have been far too many times I have made stupid mistakes or misunderstood something vital or jumped the gun in a spectacular display of twattery,” Dawn said.
It’s the first run of shows the comedian has performed in Australia since her first solo stand-up show Thirty Million Minutes toured around the country in 2016.
Renowned as one-half of the ground-breaking comedy duo French & Saunders alongside Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French has left an indelible mark on TV comedy from the 80s through the 90s.
Venturing into the early 90s, both French and Saunders embarked on separate but equally successful paths, creating two comedy institutions that became household names.
While Jennifer Saunders launched the iconic Absolutely Fabulous, Dawn French took on multiple roles in the black comedy Murder Most Horrid, showcasing her versatility by portraying both murderer and murdered in the same episode. This was just the beginning, as French went on to captivate audiences with her stellar performance in the immensely popular Richard Curtis series, The Vicar Of Dibley, attracting over 12 million viewers to its series finale.
Dawn French is a Huge Twat will take over the Civic Theatre in Newcastle on Friday 19 April, Saturday 20 April (matinée) and Saturday 4 May. Tickets are on sale now, visit livenation.com.au for more information
