There’s no denying that Jimeoin has been at the top of the stand-up comedy tree in this country for decades.

But what is it about the affable Irish-bred jokester that resonates so well with audiences? Well, as he told Newcastle Live, it was all about keeping that ego grounded.

“Well I’m really funny for a start but I’m also extremely good looking, and an extremely sexy gentleman,” he said.

“I’m also very humble which I think is extremely important – right up there with being good looking and sexy.”

Jimeoin will be hitting our neck of the woods this month with his show Result, for a string of dates across the region and he promised a night of general silliness.

“Well there will be laughs, I hope and people laughing at me, but I really hope they are laughing at me for the right reasons,” he said.

“Hopefully we will all be laughing together at a whole lot of nonsense.”

In somewhat of a refreshing respite, Jimeoin also revealed that the show would give any political comedy a wide berth.

“The world’s leaders are doing a pretty good job of making fun of themselves,” he said.

“Also I find a lot of it incredibly boring.”

And boring is certainly not what Jimeoin is about. With a laconic delivery that belies a whip-smart sense of comic timing, Jimeoin has had ’em rolling in the aisles for years now thanks to his sometimes surreal yet always relatable observations about the minutiae of everyday life.

So, as someone who has kept Australia laughing, both on stage and on screens big and small when was the last time he found himself ‘rolling in an aisle?’

“Probably the last time I had a bad case of gastro,” he quipped.
