Comedy Under Construction

I think you could live a lifetime in this town and never truly discover all of the hidden communities thriving underground. I’m constantly stumbling across a little sub community full of passionate people doing passionate things, and my latest local discovery, is comedy. And, like with most things, once you notice something once it just seems to keep popping up over and over again, which is exactly what happened when I saw the flyer for ‘Comedy Under Construction’.

Comedy Under Construction, as the name suggests, is an open mic event built around comics showcasing and road testing new material in front of a live audience. As with any open mic, the balance between those stepping up to the mic for the first time, and or local veterans who have had us loling about town for as long as we can remember, will surely make for an interesting, surprising and spontaneous evening. The weekly event will have a rotating roster of seasoned MCs who will surely stitch together the open mic showcase, keeping the banter flowing. The man at the helm, in association with the wonderful folks of Madam Speaker, Ethan Andrews, is ridiculously funny, down to earth, and all about giving up and coming comics their first big shot.

Sound like your jam? Dying to find out whether your new girlfriend is lying when she says she thinks you’re hilarious? Say no more fam, the very first Comedy Under  Construction will be held on the 5th of February at the Clarendon Hotel with sign ups starting from 7:30.
