Clowns Come Back To Newcastle

Australian Punk lords Clowns have announced their return to Newcastle.

The five-piece are bringing their ‘Freezing In The Sun’ tour to The Small Ballroom on Saturday, September 22.

The band released their new single today. ‘Freezing In The Sun’ is a taste of what is yet to come from Clowns. The song mixes an upbeat feel and jangly guitars with bleak and political lyrics. It also features vocals in the chorus from new bass recruit Hanny J.

“Tell me what the fuck I am supposed to do, when I know my taxes are paying for kids to be held in Nauru.”

The accompanying music video matches the theme of the song perfectly. Directed by the team at Walking Moustache; it features guest appearances by Wayne “Slatts” Slattery from King Parrot, Nikki Brumen from Pagan and comedian Johnathan Schuster. Not to mention, all the members of Clowns.

The band have announced a national tour to boot, and of course it’s stopping in Newcastle. The band are no strangers to the city, and have become regular visitors over the year. Starting out with sweaty and intense shows in the side room of The Croatian Club, the band have built a follow that’s seen them play Thrashville Festival, and now headline The Small Ballroom.

Coming along for the show are fellow Thrashville alumni VOIID. The self-described “hellish femme-shriek punk outfit” will be joining Clowns on all their Australian shows, and will be melting plenty of faces off along the way.
