One of the best things about this time of the year is, undoubtedly, drinking in the festive grandeur of a suburban house adorned with lights, tinsel and all manner of Christmas finery.
There is something truly magical in seeing an otherwise normal abode lit up like, well, a Christmas tree.
Well, if you don’t have the time, inclination in funds to indulge your inner Clark Griswold and run amok, Yuletide style, on your own digs, there are plenty of opportunities to park your peepers on some truly impressive displays.
To save you driving around aimlessly at sunset, trying to find a pic-worthy example of domestic Christmas awesomeness, you can just check out the brilliant site Christmas Light Search.
Searchable by suburb or postcode, the site will give you the lowdown on where the wildest light things are around your neck of the woods and, good news people of the Hunter, there are plenty of options on offer.
Also, if you know of a display that isn’t listed you can easily rectify that by creating you own listing.
Also, the site features a Best Displays in Australia 2020 section and, in what is great news for Hunter light chasers, a local diplay made the list.
Yep, that’s right! A display in Clarence Town was given the nod and given that this one is stacked with music, a giant Santa and reindeer, a walk-in display, bubble, smoke and snow machines, statues and projections, it’s not hard to see why.
The people behind the display are also holding a gold coin donation sausage sizzle on Saturday 19 December to help support a local boy battling leukaemia.
So what are you waiting for, head to the site now to find a display near you that is bound to make you go “naaaaawww!”
