Chookas Entertainment invite you to go Back To The ’80s

Chookas Entertainment is set to take audiences on a retrograde back in time when Back To The ’80s The Musical hits the stage at Warners Bay Theatre in September.

Set in the USA during the 1980s, the musical follows the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they experience senior year’s joys, heartbreaks, friendships, and adventures. Through the eyes of 30-something Corey Palmer, who was once a 17-year-old student at the school, audiences will be taken on a journey filled with nostalgia and humour.

A local cast of talented singers, dancers, and actors, led by Layla Schillert (Be More Chill, Starstruck, Jersey Boys) and Ben Smith (Heathers, Starstruck), will bring the characters to life with their captivating performances.

“Since announcing the Newcastle Season of Back to the ’80s The Musical, the response and anticipation from audiences have been overwhelming. Audiences are keen to relive the 80s through the smash hit songs this show brings,” Chookas Entertainment Producer, Jody Miller said.

“We’re excited to share this classic production with audiences in Newcastle, who have already shown so much enthusiasm for the show…whether they want to relive the 80s or die-hard fans of ‘80s music, we know there will be lots to love about this high-energy show.”

And the soundtrack is pretty lit too. From Footloose and Love Shack to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Wake me up before you go go producers say audiences will have plenty of chances to sing along during the show.

Behind the scenes, Director Zac Smith has been busy working with Musical Director Bree Young and Choreographer Jody Miller to infuse fresh energy into the iconic musical.

The Newcastle season of Back To The ’80s The Musical opens at Warners Bay Theatre on 20 September and will run till 23 September. The opening night promises an 80s dress-up event to make the experience even more nostalgic and fun. For tickets and more information visit chookasentertainment.com.
