Newcastle’s China Festival is back! From 28 September to 4 October, China Week will showcase the growing cultural, social and economic relationships between China and the Hunter Region through a program of educational, cultural and business events.

The festival is organised by The Confucius Institute at The University of Newcastle and will finish up on Sunday the 4th of October with a massive street party in Beaumont Street in Hamilton. from 10am – 4pm.
The Sunday event will feature 6 hours of fascinating performances, demonstrations and hands-on workshops showcasing and celebrating all things Chinese.
Highlights will include Chinese language, calligraphy, and Tai Chi workshops offered by the Chinese teachers from the Confucius Institute. Chinese Lion dancers, extreme martial arts, traditional Chinese dance and musical performances will entertain the crowd while kids can enjoy chopstick competitions, dumpling making and Beijing Opera face painting. The Giant Panda and the Fortune God will also be very popular with the kids – big and small.
