Friday Bar Eats n Beats is back at The Station this Friday night with more local music, good food, market stalls and family friendly activities to enjoy from 4pm until 10pm.
And when it comes to local music, you will be entertained by the powerhouse delivery of Justin Ngariki in solo mode, busker Piper Butcher and duo Dynamite.
The weekly event is fast drawing growing crowds to the former Newcastle Railway Station, with people making the most of the open doors and inviting space to have a good time with family and friends.
Organisers Danielle Mayes and Nat Brown said the feedback has been really positive so far and that people were enjoying having the ability to eat, drink and relax at The Station at the end of each week.
“The Station is the perfect place to start the weekend – its big enough for everyone to have a good time with the kids running around while mum and dad relax with dinner and a drink; it just works,” Danielle said.
“Our event is about people, food and music – it’s a simple combination but people like the vibe of Friday Bar Beats n Eats and they keep coming back, which is great to see and we hope it continues to grow.”
Part of what Danielle and Nat are looking to achieve is ongoing city activation with events that highlight local operators and performers.
“We are working to create an ongoing opportunity at The Station with Friday Bar Beats n Eats that allows local musicians to showcase their talents and allow people to enjoy live music in a fabulous setting,” Nat said.
This Friday, you can find favourite local food trucks like Bao Brothers, Macaron Messenger, Waffle Garden, Cyprus Kitchen, Opie-Fund Vantastic Mexican and more.
“We also have a great kids zone set up with Giant Jenga and other games, which is proving really popular,” Danielle added.
There is plenty of parking near The Station with free street parking on Wharf Road from 5pm. The closest carparks include Newcastle Foreshore, Bolton Street Carpark and King Street Mall. There is also free parking at No 2 Sportsground from 5pm and the light rail runs regularly from the Interchange into the city.
If you’re in the mood for a Saturday morning workout after your Friday Bar Beats n Eats experience, The Station, in conjunction with The Forum, will be offering free community fitness classes, dubbed StationFIT, from 8am.
You will get a circuit-style workout using body weight and/or equipment.
