You can get it walking a plank, dealing with a bank or even selling a cow, according to those classic Victoria Bitter ads of yore.
Now it seems a hard earned thirst can be worked up by Federal elections and to that end, the famed purveyor of the amber ale is offering thirsty voters a chance to slake that thirst for free this weekend.
In a move that would have ScoMo clambering for a free stall at Engadine Maccas, the brewer has launched its Our Shout initiative which will give thirsty punters the chance to grab a free cold one at pubs and clubs throughout Australia on Sunday 26 May.
“There has been a lot of talk over the last couple of months,” the VB website states.
“While we don’t know what’s coming next, we do know this. It’s the stay of another week and it’s time to get back to doing what we do best: working hard. That’s the only way we are going to push this country forward.
“For everyone ready to get on with the job of making Australia a better place, it’s our shout. Sunday, May 26th, 2-4pm at participating venues.”
And beer fanciers from Newcastle and surrounds haven’t been forgotten either with the promotion running at the following local venues from 2-4pm on Sunday 26 May:
Iron Horse Inn, Cardiff
Mattara Hotel, Charlestown
Of course, you do need to be over 18 years of age to be eligible and the promotion is limited to one free drink per person at participating venues only, for on premise consumption. Serving size will also be determined by each venue.
