The Newcastle Jets ALW side will take on the Western Sydney Wanderers in the opening round of the Ninja A-League comp at Cessnock Sportsground.
After it was announced that Newcastle No.2 Sportsground wouldn’t be ready to host the game due to remediation work, the Jets’ bosses reached out to the Cessnock Council to help out.
“When we were advised No.2 was not going to be ready we reached out to the Cessnock Council and they stepped up right away and worked quickly to make it happen,” Jets’ CEO Shane Mattiske said.
“We had strong support from the Cessnock community when we played a trial game at Cessnock two weeks ago so now the area will get to come and see a fully professional Ninja A-League clash.”
Former Young Matildas captain and current Newcastle Knights player Sheridan Gallagher will make her Jets debut during the game too.
The Newcastle Jets ALW side will take on Wanderers at Cessnock Sportsground on Sunday 3 November. The game kicks off at 4:00 pm. Visit newcastlejetsfc.com.au for more info.
