Celebrate Waitangi Day at Bolton Point

Nga Hau E Wha Newcastle Maori Club will host Waitangi Day celebrations on the 14th of February 2015 at Bolton Point Park, Bolton Point. This is the second year the event has been run and it is expected to be bigger and better than last year’s event.

The aim of the event is to celebrate the signing of The Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document, which occurred on the 6th of February 1840. The event will showcase our rich Maori culture through performing arts, traditional food and our traditional war canoe. To compliment this there will be a range of performers on stage, market stalls and kids entertainment.

The event will open with a traditional powhiri (Maori welcoming at 9:30) followed by entertainment until 4:30pm.
