The Let’s Fish Lake Mac competition will make its return to the waters of Lake Macquarie this November and the casting call is officially out for entries.
Promising over $33,000 in prizes for those who can hook the biggest and best catches, the catch-and-release event has become a beloved tradition attracting anglers of all ages and skill levels who are keen to hook one of the lake’s renowned flathead, bream, whiting, or tailor.
It’s not just locals who are excited about it either; families from far and wide make their way to the lake for the two competition days too.
“With facilities like our new accessible fishing platform at Bolton Point coming online, there’s more opportunities than ever to participate in this fantastic event,” Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said.
Last year’s competition reeled in nearly a thousand passionate anglers, with many travelling from outside Lake Macquarie to join the fun.
This not only created a spirited atmosphere but also generated an impressive economic impact of over $200,000 for the city.
“November is a cracking month for fishing Lake Mac, the water is warming up and so is the fishing all in time for Let’s Fish,” Let’s Fish event organiser Michael Guest said.
“Whether you’re a keen lure fisho, or a more relaxed bait soaker, there’s some great fishing on offer.
“The competition is open to anglers of all ages and it’s great to see families and friends fishing from jetties, canoes, kayaks, from the shoreline and of course boats.”
‘Let’s Fish Lake Mac’ is happening on 18 and 19 November. Head to letsfishlakemac.com.au to enter and get more information.
