CANCELLED: The Wickham Park Blues & Roots Festival will not go ahead in January

The Wickham Park Blues & Roots Festival, which was meant to roll into town on Saturday the 15th of January 2022 with a bill featuring Diesel, Russell Morris and Ash Grunwald, has been cancelled.

“Our team has worked hard for over 12 months on this event, however, the constant changes with Council and Police (and no confirmation conditions won’t change again) we cannot deliver the festival the way wanted, therefore we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to cancel our event,” the organisers said.

“Given the disappointingly slow roll-out of the vaccine by the Government, and uncertainty surrounding crowd capacity limits and social distancing laws there is no confidence that we can keep all safe and proceed as planned at our festival in January.

The continuing mismanagement of the Covid-19 situation at all levels of government has led to numerous inconsistencies and ongoing broken promises by officials that ultimately affect the safety of our patrons, artists and our crews. So much so that the situation presents too much to risk to proceed with the date as planned on Saturday the 15th of January 2022″.

Director of Big Apachee, the promoter of the event, said he is heartbroken by the decision.

“It has always been a dream of ours to produce a live music festival with a focus on local artists and I’m heartbroken that cannot proceed in this current environment,” Marcus Wright said.

Refunds to ticket holders will be issued in the coming days. No action is required from ticketholders.
