CAKE BOSS: Where to get the sweetest creations in Newcastle…as voted by you!

When it comes to dessert in this part of the world, there’s no denying that cake is king here in Newcastle.

And from wedding to birthday, cheese to cup, and everything in between, there is certainly no shortage of options from which to get your sweet tooth fix.

To that end, we wanted to know where in Newcastle “takes the cake” and you weren’t shy about giving us your opinions. So, without further ado, here are the top five ‘cakeries’ in Newcastle…as voted by you!

1.Sarahndipity Cakes

Not having heard of Sarahndipity before this poll, we were quite surprised that they would take the number one spot.

While they don’t have a bricks and mortar store, there is definitely a heck of a lot of love for Sarahndipity on the interwebs – a fact evidenced by just how many of you came to the poll to gush about their sweet creations.

Og and they also deliver for FREE in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie so what are you waiting for?

2. Claire’s Cupcakes 100% Vegan

34/338 Charlestown Rd, Charlestown

This little Charlestown-based gem is an absolute MUST for anyone who is keen on cupcakes. Also, as their name suggests, they’re 100% vegan so now everyone can enjoy the glory that is a perfectly baked cake.

we can definitely attest to their quality, too with the Pink Lemonade, Red Velvet and Lemon Burst varieties definitely worth writing home about.

Also, while known for their cupcakes, Claire’s Cupcakes also does a pretty solid line of cakes, doughnuts, macarons, and tarts. Yes, please!

3. Bec’s Custom Creations

It seems the people of Newcastle love their cakes of the bespoke variety and Bec’s Custom Creations’ entry into this list is a tacit acknowledgment of this fact.

Many of you were enamoured with Bec’s perfect-looking creations and just a quick peruse of her Insta and it’s not hard to see why.

As one fan pointed out on our poll: “Delicious cupcakes, cakes and cookies! Beautiful, unique and fun designs…but most importantly they are so delicious.”

4. Sweet Poison

Shop 15 Marketown Shopping Centre, Parry Street, Newcastle West

This Marketown fave has long been THE go-to for any workplace celebration cakes at more than a few Newcastle offices in which this writer has plied his trade.

Honestly, I’ve yet to find one of their elaborate creations as lacking in the cake splendour department.

While the whole menu is worth sampling, Sweet Poison’s Butterscotch Madness, Poison Ivy and Nutella Cheesecake are definitely worth checking out.

5. Euro Patisserie

68 Orchardtown Rd, New Lambton

You can’t have a discussion about cakes in Newcastle without mentioning this ubiquitous New Lambton spot so it makes sense that they would make this list.

These guys have been serving up sweet treats to Newcastle confection enthusiasts for the past 25 years and have definitely come close to perfecting the art in that time.

They do a MEAN butter cake, and their Hazlenut Crunch gateaux is absolutely next level.

Treat yo’self.
