This Thursday, 21st December, one of Australia’s most celebrated Irish dancers will bring his troop to town to perform A Taste of Ireland’s Christmas Spectacular at the Newcastle Exhibition Centre.
The show is billed as “dazzling feets of dance meets moments of Irish wit” and according to the show’s creator, choreographer, World Medalist and 6 Time Champion Brent Pace, there’s plenty for the live music lover here too.
“The production features 100% live music and dance” Brent tells us during a recent chat.
“You’ll hear melodic celtic accordions, alongside raw and rhythmic guitars and banjos and we even have a set of Ullieann Pipes”
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Brent Pace has been an Irish dancer for over 20 years. He is the son of one of Australia’s most prominent Irish dance teachers and has trained alongside the very best in London, Dublin & the United States. His competitive dance career has taken him to achieve such feats as becoming a World Medallist, 6 Time National Champion and getting top placings at every major Irish dance competition in the World. “Brent is Australia’s Best”, ABC3.
Impressive dancing rarely seen outside of the World Championship stage, “A Taste of Ireland” was composed and choreographed in Dublin and is quickly on it’s way to becoming the new frontier in Irish entertainment.
Brent says that Irish Dance has come a long way since the inception of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, however he says that A Taste of Ireland takes the art form to the next level.
“The whole Christmas story isn’t just shoe horned into the production, we’ve really taken our time to weave the stories together”.
A Taste of Ireland hits the Newcastle Exhibition Centre on Thursday 21st December, 2017. Tickets are on sale now on (02) 4926 6211.
