BONZA: Independent low-cost airline to take off in Newcastle

Australia’s newest contender in their air, Bonza will operate four flights a week from Newcastle to the Sunshine Coast and two weekly to the Whitsundays from mid-2022.

“This is a real coup for our region,” Newcastle Airport CEO Dr Peter Cock said.

“Bonza’s vision to connect Australians aligns with Newcastle Airport’s vision to be the airport the region deserves, directly connecting our region to all the places they would like to travel both domestically and internationally.”

In total, including Newcastle, Bonza has announced 25 routes and 16 destinations across QLD, VIC and NSW.

“From our two bases on the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne, we will give Aussies more options at ultra-low fares to explore their own backyard,” Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza, said.

“With two new routes directly in and out of Newcastle Airport, we will be delivering on our promise to give Aussies more options for leisure travel.

Not only will the flights open up new markets for the region’s tourism industry, locals will have the opportunity to explore their own backyard with ultra-low fares.”
