Former Prime minister Bob Hawke has arrived in the Hunter for the 39th Jack Newton Celebrity Golf Classic.
It’s the third year the event, affectionately known as “The Jack”, has been held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
Last night saw the festivities kick off with the events welcome BBQ. The first night at the Jack is more like a family reunion. Celebrities, golf pros and sponsors, who may only see each other once a year and who may never have met if not for The Jack, catch up and ready themselves for a huge 2 days of golf. A fly over by Red Bull pilot, Matt Hall and an amazing lighting show and fireworks all add to the atmosphere as guest ate their meals. It is a great way to start off the 36 hole pro am.

An invite to The Jack has been regarded as the hottest ticket in the country for golf lovers. Joining us again this year are Father and son, league legend, Wally Lewis and actor Lincoln Lewis. Lincoln has been coming with his dad since he could walk and Wally has only missed 3 tournaments in the event’s 39 years.
Other names include league legends Terry Lamb, Ben Steve Menzies and Michael Hagan. Former rivals from Australian Survivor, Sam Webb and Lee Carseldine, Cricket legend Sir Ian Botham, Actor Peter Phelps, Better Homes and Gardens presenter Rob Palmer, member for Patterson, Meryl Swanson, Comedian, Adam Spencer and W-League star player Emily Van Egmond.
