After regaling us with his The Three Bobs lockdown video series Bob Corbett is heading out of isolation with the brilliant Roo Grass Band for two shows at Lizotte’s this week.
Yep, that’s right! This no-foolin’ Newcastle supergroup featuring Bob, Sue Carson, Robbie Long, and Dave Carter will hit the stage for a “lunch show” before backing up with an evening gig this Sunday 5 July, in what promises to be one heck of a weekend double-header!
Obviously champing at the bit to get back on stage after months of lockdown, Bob took to social media this week to share a clip of the Roo Grassers ripping through the brilliant The Lambton Lights from his 2008 album Storyboard.
While Bob described the session as “a little bit dusty” the result is anything but and gives an exciting insight into the brilliantly crafted country-tinged folk that we can expect this weekend.
There is also a palpable air of joyousness in the clip and if you’ve seen these guys in action before, you’d know full well that the Roo Grass Band’s infectious enthusiasm, spontaneity, and kit-bag full of heartfelt toe-tappers make them one of the most watchable bands on the local scene.
Unfortunately but understandably, tickets for these shows are STRICTLY limited, however, if you can”t manage to make it in person, the evening show will be live-streamed so you can literally have The Roo Grass Band round for tea!
Catch Bob Corbett and The Roo Grass Band at Lizotte’s on Sunday 5 July. The Lunch Show kicks off at 2pm and the Dinner Show will get underway art 8.30pm.
