BLUESFEST 2016: Day 2

Day two Bluesfest 2016, was a 12 hour marathon of superb live music and perfect Byron weather. We kicked it off with a real high-light, Novacastians Bad Luck Kitty rocking the busking stage. The band competed in the Bluesfest busking Comp at The Beach Hotel Byron Bay last Monday night, unfortunately they didn’t make it through to the final but were offered a set at the festival on the busking stage.  In true Rock and Roll form the boys traveled to Byron and back twice this week… Over 2,500kms to play a total of 45 minuets of music. Too quote drummer Tom Blake ‘Worth it!-Played at Bluesfest’.

BAD LUCK KITTY

As well as Bad Luck Kitty, we caught The Hussy Hicks, Dustin Thomas, Lukas Nelson, Grace Potter, East Journey, Archie Roach, Steve Earle, Elle King, City & Colour, The National and  music legends Graham Nash and The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, can it get much better than that – sure can we have another three days of this and more to go.

Ticket still available for the remaining days at www.bluesfest.com.au, if you unlucky enough not to be able to make it this year 2017 pre-early bird five day tickets are available for a short time at the super low price of $330.00

At 16 years old, on a balmy May Friday night way back in 1975. I rolled up to the Forestville Youth Centre (The Forrie Bop) tickets were a couple of dollars and the band on the night included the likes of Bon Scott, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Paul Matters and Phil Rudd, yes ‘ACDC’ all for $2.00, can you believe that.
