Black Sorrows lead first announce for a whopping Dashville Skyline

Everybody’s favourite cosmic country weekender (and the one fest this writer reckons the late great Gram Parsons wishes he was still alive to play) Dashville Skyline is back!

Running across the Labour Day long weekend (Friday 1 October – Sunday 3 October) this celebration of all things alt-country has become renowned for being literally chock-a-block full of memorable performances, surprising collaborations and good old laid back country-inspired fun.

And the 2021 iteration promises to be no different with Dashville HQ today dropping the first lineup announcement that can only be described as an absolute doozy!

Leading the charge for 2021 is none other than the legendary Black Sorrows, whose blues soaked rock has been a part of the Australian musical zeitgeist since dropping their brilliant 1984 debut set of soul and R&B tracks Sonola.

Fast forward a few decades (decades that shot the band into the stratosphere thanks to such tunes as Chained To The Wheel, Harley and Rose and Hold On To Me) and Joe Camilleri and co are still kicking goals with recent albums such as 2019s Citizen John counted amoung some of their best.

The Black Sorrows will be joined by a literal litany of talent including one of the best roots players to ever strap on a guitar Jeff Lang, the incomparable talent of William Crighton, Tracy McNeill & The Good Life, whose brilliant 2020 set You Be The Lightning nabbed an ARIA nomination, and Slim Dusty’s Travelling Country Band – the outfit that backed national treasure Slim for his last show back in 2003.

If those names aren’t enough to have you clambering for a ticket, well the rest of the first announcement is rounded out by Liz Stringer, Ice Cream Hands, Albi & The Wolves, Fools, Harmony Byrne, Fenn Wilson, Dan Brodie, Melody Moko, CJ Stranger, Ben Mastwuk & His Millions, Cool Sounds, Family Jordan, Andy Abra & The Big Rover Band, Kid Hank, Katie Brianna, Then Jolene and Marvellous Hearts.

Phew! Now, that’s a lineup!

The ultra-chilled countrified camping festival will host over 40 live performances, mouth-watering American-inspired food and bevvies, boutique vintage market stalls, an animal petting zoo, a guitar-and-car show and shine and much, much more.

Held at the same location as The Gum Ball, Dashville Skyline is a popular alternative to its predecessor, providing an amazing experience for alt-country music lovers and those who like to partake in an ultimate weekend escape, full of laid-back music and family fun.

Dashville Skyline is on from Friday 1 October to Sunday 3 October 2021. Head here for more information and tickets.
