The iconic catalogue of Swedish musical juggernaut ABBA will be given new life by one of the most powerful all-female groups in the country – The Ten Sopranos.
The vocal powerhouse will tackle such timeless classics as Waterloo, Dancing Queen, SOS and Knowing Me Knowing You in two special shows at Wests Nelson Bay on Friday 6 March and Belmont 16s on Saturday 7 March.
Since the forming of the group in 2006 and with more than 300 performances across 80 theatres in Australia alone, audiences have been so moved by their performances that some have left theatres in tears, others have left exhilarated, and others just loiter around the venue to savour the moment a little longer.
The group is led by the multi-award winning acclaimed soprano, Penny Pavlakis, a singer who commands respect in both the classical and contemporary world.
Penny, along with The Sopranos, showcase their supreme talents to Australian audiences in a concert of epic proportions paying homage to the magnificent songs of Benny and Bjorn
If you know anything about ABBA, and let’s face it who doesn’t you’d know that they were responsible for some of the dancingest hits in the history of popular music (Dancing Queen, anyone?) so it’s pretty much a given that this show will have you singing and dancing with abandon!
ABBA’s credentials as pop royalty cannot be underestimated, either. With estimates of global record sales hitting 385 million, they are no doubt one of the best selling artists of all time.
They were also the first group from a non-English-sepaking country to achieve chart success in such countries as the US, UK, Canada South Africa and of course right here in Australia.
