If music is a universal language then surely beer is the social lubricant which gets the conversation flowing? We at Newcastle Live believe there is little sweeter in life than watching a brilliant band perform whilst sipping on an absolutely crackin’ beer. So here we have the lowdown on the brews and tunes to be featured at Bitter & Twisted – 3 & 4 November.
BITTER & TWISTED BANDS
Blue Mountains three piece Cloud Control and Brisbane band Last Dinosaurs will headline the stage this year and will be supported by a myriad of musical delights both local and national.
Last Dinosaurs will unleash their music on festival goers on Saturday 3 November. Some of their hit singles to listen out for are Eleven, Apollo and Zoom, the song that really put them on the map back in 2011.
With hits including ‘Treetops’, ‘Rainbow City’ and ‘There’s Nothing In The Water We Can’t Fight’, Cloud Control first came on the scene in 2008 following the release of their self-titled EP and will close the Festival – 10 years later, on Sunday afternoon 4 November.
If you love The Strokes, The Beatles or Oasis (who doesn’t?) check out The Lulu Raes, five mates from Queensland who bring together a lifetime love of pop smothered in dance & punk. For spirited groove and reggae, The Sea Gypsies are just the ticket – raw and passionate. Yes.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a great local festival without great local talent so you must listen out for folk, indie, acoustic singer-songwriter Lachlan Edwards, vibrant solo artist Megan Core who experiments with her acoustic guitar, vocals, harmonica and stomp box to create a fun-time atmosphere and of course Lachlan X Morris for a sweet cross between future-psych and old-school pop.
BITTER & TWISTED BEERS
The 2018 line up of Bitter & Twisted craft brewers is a beauty! GOT SOME EXTRA CASH?
If you can afford the extra, splashing out on VIP is totally the way to go. The VIP area is being sponsored by Tighes Hills Cellars craft beer experts, a proper bunch of beer geeks. We say this with great affection and love their weekly tastings and hot tips.
Tighes Hill Cellars will be serving up Hawkers Beer all weekend in the VIP area including everything from their award-winning West Coast IPA (Not for the faint-hearted. A big hoppy bitter with huge floral, fruity, and piney aromas) to a truly sessionable Pilsner (this beer is clean, refreshing but never boring). VIP on Saturday is sold out so if #sundaysesh is calling your name, get in quick!
