WHEELIE GOOD: Is your bin having more outings than you at the moment?

We’re all in this together. We need to self-isolate, practice social distancing and try our very, very best to beat coronavirus.

But do you ever get the feeling that you’re kind of a little bit trapped in your house? That you are wearing your pjs for much more of the day than you usually would? Have you realised that your trusty garbage bin (or three – don’t forget that green waste people) is getting “out” much more frequently than you are?

Well, we may have found just the Facebook group for you! Created by Danielle Askew from Hervey Bay, Queensland the “Bin isolation outing” group has amassed 30,000 members from throughout Australia, and in fact the world, in a very short space of time.

Encouraging members to dress up, share a photo and make the very most of the menial task of taking the bin out the Bin isolation outing feed features the likes of Buzz Lightyear, Freddie Mercury, Albert Einstein and almost everything in between.

And this group it is definitely throwing out and picking up the laughs. As founder Danielle says “after all laughter is the best medicine”.

P.S. Here are some recent details on local government operations for the City of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie City Council – their Waste Services teams are not currently impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and operations should be per your usual schedule.

Stay safe and keep smiling everyone!
