For more than 40 years, charity Bikers for Kids has supported the local community and helped to bring Christmas cheer to disadvantaged kids throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Unfortunately, after many COVID challenges and restrictions around mass gatherings, the group have made the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel their 2020 Newcastle Toy Run, previously scheduled for December.
Rather than be deterred or beaten, Bikers for Kids has worked hard to adjust and find new ways to raise much-needed funds and provide gifts for kids who wouldn’t otherwise have anything to look forward to on Christmas morning.
Isolation, social distance and economic hardships mean that community support is needed more than ever in 2020.
Speaking with Bikers for Kids treasurer Stephen Meek, he said: “Unfortunately, the beneficiaries of our efforts will only be worse off this year,” and they need our help to achieve a meaningful result for this incredible annual donation.
This initiative is looking to secure over $50,000 worth of toys for kids and families in need, supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal in the Hunter and Central Coast Region. Here are a few easy ways that you can get involved and make a big difference.
