Big Picture Fest returns for 2024

The hugely popular Big Picture Fest will once again take over the city’s walls in 2024.

More buildings in the CBD will serve as canvasses waiting to be transformed during the large-scale street art event.

Big Picture Fest, which will be held in Newcastle for the third time, returns thanks to City Of Newcastle’s City Centre and Darby Street Special Business Rate (SBR) program.

“Big Picture Fest is a great example of how Special Business Rate funding can be used to help beautify and activate our local business precincts, which not only provide a boost to the economy but supports local jobs,” Deputy Lord Mayor Declan Clausen said.

The latest round of grants from the SBR program saw 15 projects awarded a share of almost $1 million in funding.

Other events that received a cash injection include West Best Bloc Fest, Shakespeare Under The Stars and Sculptures @ Scratchley.

The SBR funds will also assist in the return of the popular Chalk the Walk pavement 3D art event.
