Are you an emerging artist who is keen to see your self-expression writ large over the Newcastle landscape?
Well, you’re in luck because the upcoming Big Picture Fest is now accepting expressions of interest.
The major street art festival, presented by Newcastle Afoot, is slated to run from October 2-4 and aims to bring the local art community together to work alongside an all-star lineup (TBA) of world-class professional artists.
Over the course of the three-day festival, 12 large scale murals will be painted live across the city.
Becky Kiil from Newcastle Afoot said given the depth of artistic talent in the Hunter region, it was imperative that home-grown artists were represented in the festival.
“I think that a core part of Newcastle’s identity is its well-established creative community,” she said.
“That community has had a hard time during the COVID crisis and we look forward to adding to Newcastle’s creative legacy by working with exciting local talent to exceed in their endeavours to add amazing public artwork to our skyline.”
The event will create walking trails across many sites in the inner city and, best of all, will be social distancing friendly.
In addition to the live mural painting across the weekend, the festival will also feature walking and photographic tours, artist talks and live online events.
The Big Picture Fest will run from October 2 to October 4. Head here for more information on the festival and to register your expression of interest.
Expressions of interest from local artists can be submitted until 5pms on Sunday 24 May.
