Ahh the humble happy hour. That glorious time of the week where you can cast off the shackles of the workday and forget about the minutiae of everyday life by tossing back a couple of cut-rate bevvies.
We here in Newcastle are certainly au fait with the concept with pretty much every watering hole in the Hunter region offering some version of this pub culture staple.
And it’s not just the pubs that are offering the happy hour love with many eateries around the traps also cottoning on to the idea.
So, in that spirit here are some of our favourite happy hours that we reckon are worth checking out if you haven’t already.
We aren’t backward coming forwards with our love from Bao Brothers and we don’t mind a bit of RnB either. So, RnBao Friday’s are right up our alley. $6 Boozy Slushies and $6 Beers from 4pm to 6pm and then $6 bao buns all night! Our Newcastle West neighbours and friends The Edwards offer up a most excellent Happy Hour from Wednesday to Saturday between 4pm and 6pm including: $10 cocktails, $5 beers & $7 wines.
They have great Sunday afternoon specials too. Delightful, really. More information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/575318939846568
An afternoon / sunset session on Newcastle’s working harbour is pretty bloody lovely at any time but if you visit The Landing at Honeysuckle on a Wednesday or Friday between 6pm and 9pm you can sip away on $12 cocktails. And why not order up a few $15 pizzas too!
Visit their Facebook page for more details.
