AHOY: Two new bars set to open in Newcastle

Hunter Street is set to welcome two new bars in the coming months, and we’re pretty excited.

Interestingly, both bars flirt with Newcastle’s affinity with the port, ships, sailors and pirates.

We’ll drink to that!

The Rum Diary Bar

Newcastle will soon have a new interstate tenant that promises to bring enough rum to sink a pirate ship!

Melbourne’s award-winning The Rum Diary Bar have announced they will set up a new home in the old 529 Terrace Bar location on Hunter Street. And we can’t wait to take our first sip.

The iconic venue in Brunswick Street in Fitzroy features over 200 different rums and features a menu stacked with rum-based cocktails including their infamous rotating Cocktail On Tap.

You can find out more by following The Rum Diary Bar on Facebook and Instagram.

The Ship Inn

The people behind one of Newcastle’s most loved establishments, The Falcon Restaurant, have a new project in the works.

The Ship Inn will take over the old Reserve Wine Bar building at 102 Hunter St, Newcastle.

They’re set to throw open the doors in late July. You can keep your eyes on the prize by following their Instagram account.
